Comprehensive Building Systems Upgrades and Digitalization at Hotel Barceló Contemporáneo
SAMPOL took part in the renovation of Hotel Barceló Contemporáneo, one of Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s best-known hotels. The project included upgrading the low-voltage electrical, fire detection, and telecommunications systems to meet Barceló Hotel Group’s new operational and technological standards while preserving the building’s exterior appearance.
The project introduced digital solutions through the installation of the Icosaedro system in guest rooms, alongside a complete overhaul of the hotel’s electrical and communications infrastructure. Investment in these systems totaled more than €1.16 million for electrical installations and €251,000 for telecommunications, reflecting the scale of the work.
Building Systems Modernization and Guest Room Digitalization
The project required extensive technical coordination after structural issues emerged, making it necessary to revise parts of the original plan. Despite these challenges, the work delivered a complete upgrade of the hotel’s low-voltage electrical, fire detection, and telecommunications infrastructure.
Technology upgrades included installing the Icosaedro system in guest rooms, enhancing the hotel’s management and operational capabilities. Construction was completed in December 2025, and the hotel welcomed its first guests in January 2026 following completion of the commissioning process.
