Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS): Full Investment / Turnkey EPC / Operations & Maintenance (O&M)
SAMPOL has designed and built a 3.1 MW behind-the-meter trigeneration plant for Bacardi’s distillery in Cataño, Puerto Rico, based on a circular economy model that transforms waste from the rum manufacturing process into energy. The facility incorporates a Solar Turbines gas turbine that uses biogas produced from this waste, with the capability to also operate on propane. The turbine generates electricity for industrial processes, while the recovered heat is used to produce steam. The plant also supplies cooling (300 RT).
The plant operates in parallel with the public grid, which primarily serves as a backup power supply. By harnessing industrial by-products to generate energy, the facility helps reduce fossil fuel consumption and improve the efficiency of the distillery’s operations.
