Reliable and efficient energy to drive development in Petén (Guatemala)
As part of the Innova Energy project in Petén (Guatemala), SAMPOL has carried out the construction and comprehensive commissioning of a new 45MW gas-fired power station, designed to improve the continuity and quality of the electricity supply in the region.
The plant comprises five Bergen Engines, each with a capacity of 9 MW, a robust configuration that combines operational reliability, flexibility of response and energy efficiency. During the testing and commissioning phase, the operation of all critical systems was successfully verified: generation, alternators, lubrication, high-temperature/low-temperature cooling, start-up air, ventilation, exhaust gases, fuel treatment, electrical systems, instrumentation, control and protection systems.
Advanced technology for a safer, more stable and more sustainable electricity supply
This project reinforces SAMPOL’s ability to deliver high-performance energy infrastructure in challenging environments, ensuring technical standards are met at every stage: engineering, construction, systems integration and acceptance testing. In addition to its direct impact on the reliability of the Petén electricity system, the plant contributes to the energy transition through more efficient operation and an estimated reduction in emissions of over 150,000 tonnes of carbon footprint.
